Deer resembling Santa’s flying reindeer seen soaring through US skies | US News
Santa Claus’ flying reindeer appeared to soar through the sky ahead of Christmas.
Three deer wrapped in red cloth were strung together and airlifted by a helicopter in Herber City, Utah, last Friday.
A video shows a helicopter lifting one of the deer up slowly from the woods. Another shot shows three deer airlifted, stacked in a straight vertical line. They spin around in the air with snow-capped mountains in the background.
The chopper slowly lowers them to a grassy remote area one by one, before taking off in another direction. The deer lie on the ground as six men approach with tools.
A clip shows a deer with its eyes covered while being examined. One of the deer that is freed is helped up by the men and trots away into the wild.
They do not belong to Saint Nicholas, according to the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources, which shared the footage.
‘These aren’t Santa’s flying reindeer!’ wrote the government agency on Facebook on Tuesday.
‘Each winter, our biologists capture and place GPS collars on approximately 1,200 deer throughout the state.’
The deer are taken to a staging area where the agency performs health assessments before freeing them back into the wild.
‘These important efforts help us monitor and learn about deer migration patterns,’ the agency explained.
