Police have confirmed a sighting of escaped terror suspect Daniel Khalife in southwest London.

An eyewitness reported seeing a man fitting Khalife’s description on Wednesday morning ‘walking away from a BidFood van that had stopped near the south entrance to Wandsworth Roundabout’, about a mile from Wandsworth Prison, according to Scotland Yard.

Khalife was spotted at the ‘top of Trinity Road, shortly after his escape’, they added.

The 21-year-old former soldier was later spotted ‘walking towards Wandsworth town centre’.

Police said the sighting ‘could be very significant,’ and is ‘one of several key lines of enquiry that officers are pursuing’.

Officers have offered a reward of £20,000 for information on the fugitive, who has been accused of spying on Britain for Iran.

More than 100 members of the public have reported sightings of Khalife so far.

Police previously warned that the former soldier’s military training ‘may make his apprehension harder.’

It is believed the 22-year-old, who was awaiting trial relating to terrorism and Official Secrets Act offences, escaped by strapping himself to the underside of a delivery van.

British miltary officer Dr Patrick Bury said likely to have had help in breaking out of Wandsworth jail and is ‘either extremely lucky or very smart, and if it’s the latter it’s likely he’s had a lot of help.’
