Woman charged with GBH after hitting Asda security guard with car | UK News
A woman has been charged after allegedly hitting an Asda security guard after a massive brawl in a car park.
Roxanne Louise Dale, 36,of Longbenton has been charged with grievous bodily harm following the hit-and-run, which was caught on camera in Wallsend, Newcastle.
Footage showed the moment the Asda security guard was struck by the vehicle after the altercation.
Asda staff were trying to break up an argument between a group in the car park, when an Audi rammed into a car and then drove into a female security guard.
Police said the woman hit by the car suffered a ‘serious’ leg injury, but was later discharged from hospital.
Northumbria Police have since confirmed the Dale was charged in relation to the hit-and-run, and she has appeared before Newcastle magistrates.
She has been remanded in custody ahead of her next appearance.
A Northumbria Police spokesperson told MailOnline: ‘Shortly after 1.15pm on Thursday (February 8), we received a report of a disturbance in the car park of a premises on Hadrian Road in Wallsend.
‘Emergency services attended the scene where it was reported that a group of people had been involved in a verbal disagreement.’
An Asda spokesperson said: ‘We are aware of an incident which occurred at our Wallsend store. We do not tolerate any form of violence or abuse towards our colleagues and we are working closely with the police in their inquiries.’
In 2018, a similar incident saw six people injured after a car was driven into a crowd of people Asda in north Manchester.
