Prince Harry spends night in London hotel after meeting King Charles | UK News
Despite having a plethora of royal palaces and houses at his disposal, Prince Harry chose to spend last night in a luxury hotel, it has been claimed.
Rather than staying at Windsor Castle – conveniently located for commuting to Heathrow Airport – the Duke is said to have opted to stay somewhere in central London.
There he will have been able to recover from the jetlag of his 11-hour flight, followed by a meeting with his father that lasted less than 45 minutes.
After the brief meeting the King is seen racing off to a helicopter waiting a short distance away from Clarence House at Buckingham Palace.
It is understood he is travelling to Sandringham in Norfolk with his wife Queen Camilla.
Harry arrived in the UK around 1pm yesterday, following his 10-and-a-half hour flight after reportedly learning about his father’s diagnosis in a direct phone call.
There are no plans for the Duke of Sussex to meet with his brother the Prince of Wales during his brief stay.
A source told The Times Harry would have welcomed a meeting with his brother.
They said: ‘The Duke’s primary reason to travel to the UK is to visit his father. If the opportunity were to arise to see the Prince of Wales then the Duke would have gladly accepted it.’
Despite both princes being in contact with their father, neither have made a public statement on his illness.
Harry is not expected to stay in London long, and will shortly return to his wife Meghan Markle and his two children in Montecito, California.
He did not spend the night in any royal residences, after he handed in his keys to Frogmore Cottage last year.
Last time Harry flew to the UK it was in September for the Well Child Awards, where he stayed in a hotel.
Hopes were raised the family could reunite following the prince’s transatlantic dash.
A source said Harry immediately decided to come the UK after learning of his father’s diagnosis.
Announcing that Prince Harry will come and see his father, the Office of The Duke and Duchess of Sussex said: ‘The duke did speak with his father about his diagnosis. He will be traveling to UK to see His Majesty in the coming days.’
