Brit found unresponsive in Thai hotel dies in hospital | World News

A British tourist has died after contracting a mystery illness while on holiday in Thailand.
James Moore, 44, was found clutching his asthma pump in his hotel room unresponsive having told his family he caught a virus on the Thai island of Ko Chang and he felt under the weather.
His friend Dave Moss who lives on the island grew concerned when he could not contact James when the pair were meant to meet so went to his hotel.
James was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead by doctors once he arrived.
He was booked to fly back home to Newmarket, Suffolk, but his family received the devastating news on January 19.
James’s sister Rachel Tate said: ‘When Dave couldn’t reach him, he grew worried and went to James’s hotel.
‘What he found in that room was beyond belief.’
Rachel is now working with the British Embassy and Thai authorities to bring his body back.
A GoFundMe page has been set up by the family to help with repatriation costs.
Rachel said on GoFundMe: ‘This situation is like a jigsaw puzzle.
‘Slowly but surely we are getting the situation sorted to get my brother home so we can bury him.’
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said: ‘We are supporting the family of a British man who has died in Thailand.’
