Police are searching for two men who were caught on CCTV carrying out a brutal assault in a busy Shoreditch pub.

A man in his thirties had a pint glass smashed over his head after an altercation with two unknown men at the Crown and Shuttle Pub on September 30, 2023.

CCTV footage has been released of the moments leading up to the attack in hopes of finding the men involved.

After smashing the glass over the victim’s head, the man ran off as the victim was taken to hospital, before later being discharged.

PC Oliver Barlow, leading the investigation, said: ‘This was a brutal attack that left the victim with a serious injury that required stitches and months of healing.

‘We are doing everything we can to find those responsible and have carried out a number of enquiries since the night of the attack, including speaking with witnesses and looking at CCTV.’

Since beginning the investigation, officers identified two men they hope to speak to in relation to the attack.

PC Barlow added: ‘If you were at the Crown and Shuttle pub on the evening of this attack, please look closely at this footage and let us know if you remember seeing either of these men on that night.

‘Similarly, if you recognise them or have any information about the incident, please come forward.’

Earlier this year, a woman smashed a gin glass into a barmaid’s face as she was being thrown out of the pub.

Lynsey Ryan, 35, had shared a bottle of wine with her friend and then moved onto gin at the Cheshire Cheese pub, in Warrington, on October 29 last year.

At around 12.20am into the next day, server Danielle Birch confronted Ryan about an argument she had been involved in with three other women.

Ms Birch, also in her 30s, asked the mum to leave before Ryan ‘stood up with the glass in her hand and pushed it towards the barmaid’s face’, Warrington Magistrates’ Court heard.

Ryan, a mum-of-one from the town’s Latchford area, admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and was banned from the Cheshire Cheese pub for two years.

She was also sentenced to a four-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, along with 60 hours of unpaid work, told to pay £154 in costs and ordered to pay Mrs Birch £200 compensation.
