Heartbreaking moment toddler tries to stop ‘mugging’ in Sidcup | UK News

The toddler, seen above wearing a blue jacket, chases after the gang attacking the man and teenage girl

A video has captured the heartbreaking moment a toddler attempts to stop a gang attacking a man and a teenage girl he is with.

The shocking footage shows the child chasing the thugs during the apparent mugging in Sidcup, south east London, on Wednesday evening.

The man and teenage girl were both punched in the face, but thankfully it appears as if the youngster, although clearly distressed by the incident, was not physically hurt.

WARNING: The video contains material some viewers may find upsetting

In the video, shared by The Sun, the man, girl and toddler are walking towards a car and as the girl goes to open it two men in hoods rise from a bench and walk towards them.

One of the assailants then punches the man in the head before the second also gets involved.

The victim then ends up falling on the ground.

Seeing what’s just happened, the girl runs over and tries to drag the thugs off him.

She’s followed by the toddler who runs after the attackers and screams.

A third assailant gets involved in the attack and the three continue to pummel the man as, it’s alleged, they attempt to steal his bag.

At one point a bystander grabs the child and pulls them back to safety, although seconds later the youngster is seen once again running towards the furore.

The gang then calmly walk away. A second video shows the girl angrily shouting at the men as they leave, while the child, who is with her, is heard screaming in distress.

Last week wearers of Canada Goose jackets were told to remain vigilant amid a series of muggings in which the clothing was stolen from people’s backs.

The warning came after two 16-year-old boys were arrested following a violent confrontation at Elmstead Woods train station in Chislehurst, Kent.

A man was punched repeatedly as assailants tried to pull off his coat.
