Reason Melania was missing from Trump family Christmas events revealed | US News
Former First Lady Melania Trump was notably missing from a Christmas family photo at Mar-a-Lago and her whereabouts recently have been a mystery.
Melania’s absence from the picture in particular has now reportedly been explained by a person close to her – she did not attend the Trump family’s Christmas celebration to be with her mother.
‘Melania has always been very devoted to her entire family,’ a source told Fox News Digital on Tuesday.
‘It should be no surprise that she spent this Christmas with her ailing mother.’
A source close to the Trumps told Page Six that Melania’s mother, Amalija Knavs, has been hospitalized and sick and that the former first lady was alongside her instead of at the Mar-a-Lago party.
The family photo shared by Donald Trump Jr’s fiancée, Kimberly Guilfoyle, on her Instagram story earlier on Tuesday included Melania and ex-President Donald Trump’s son Barron Trump, as well as Melania’s father Viktor Knavs.
Melania’s absence from the picture had raised more questions amid a report that members of the private Mar-a-Lago club in Palm Beach, Florida, have not seen her around lately.
‘Nobody knows where she is. It’s like a mystery. It’s certainly talked about,’ said Laurence Leamer, author of the 2019 book Mar-a-Lago: Inside the Gates of Power at Donald Trump’s Presidential Palace.
Melania ‘rarely exits Mar-a-Lago’ nowadays, Leamer said on Monday.
‘It’s a strange, isolated life they have in that place.’
Melania was not the only family member missing from the 13-person picture. The ex-president’s second eldest son, Eric Trump, and his wife Lara Trump were not part of it.
The former first lady was also not seen at a Christmas Eve dinner that her husband had with fans at Mar-a-Lago.
Melania, who was born in Slovenia, made a rare appearance and speech at a naturalization ceremony the National Archives earlier this month in which she congratulated 25 new American citizens and shared the ‘arduous’ process she went through to become a naturalized US citizen.
