Dad stabs himself dead with knife around his neck in freak accident | US News

A father-of-two died after accidentally stabbing himself with a knife tha the had around his neck.

Patrick Kenney Jr, 42, was found with a knife wound outside Kowloon Restaurant in Saugus, Massachusetts, on Saturday night. Cops responded to the parking lot a call for a stabbing.

He was hurt by a knife that was attached to something he wore on his neck, several sources told NewsCenter5.

Kenney, of Milton, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, where he was pronounced dead.

‘This incident appears to be accidental, and no additional parties are believed to be involved,’ stated Essex County District Attorney Paul Tucker and Saugus police Chief Michael Ricciardelli.

Kenney ‘departed unexpectedly’ and left behind his wife Lauren and their two children Ava and Patrick, according to a GoFundMe page for his kids’ education and future expenses.

‘In the midst of an indescribable loss, we turn to you for support and unity,’ wrote Lauren’s sister, Liz Boucher, on the page.

‘Pat was not just a loving father; he was also Lauren’s best friend and confidant. His sudden absence has created a void that words cannot fill.

‘As we navigate this challenging time, our main focus is ensuring that the children receive the support necessary to navigate their daily lives amid these newfound challenges.’

Kenney and his family frequented Kowloon Restaurant for years. The Wong family, which owns the establishment, said Kenney took a bus from the South Shore to have dinner there with friends and family.

‘Our thoughts and prayers are with the victim’s family,’ stated the Wong family, according to NewsCenter 5. ‘Nothing else matters at this time. We ask that people don’t jump to conclusions until an investigation is completed.’

Kenney’s death is under investigation, authorities told The Boston Globe.

‘Our family is mourning the loss of Patrick, focused on his wife Lauren and two young children, and trying to make sense of this horrific tragedy,’ the family told the newspaper and requested privacy.

The GoFundMe page had raised more than $69,000 as of Tuesday evening.

Kenney died about a month after a newlywed man from Ohio died in a waterskiing freak accident on his honeymoon in St Lucia.
