A nine-month-old girl who was stolen from the streets, triggering a frantic search, has been found.
Delilah Lopez was found safe around 7am on Wednesday, said the Laredo Police Department.
‘The child has been located. According to preliminary reports, the child appears to be unharmed and in good condition,’ wrote the police department on social media.
She was last seen past midnight on East Bustamante Street in the southern Texas border city, News4SA reported.
An Amber Alert was issued for her just over two hours after she vanished, around 2.50am. Officials at the time said they believed the baby was in grave or immediate danger. Delilah has special medical needs, police said.
The suspect was said to be driving a blue 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan with a Texas plate number 3970S52.
That vehicle was found at the intersection of Philadelphia and Juarez around 7.10am, the Laredo Morning Times reported.
No arrests were immediately made, and police are searching for the suspect.
‘Preliminary information is that the vehicle was stolen with the child in the car,’ stated the police department. ‘The person or persons who took the vehicle are unknown.’
Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact the police department.
