What’s scarier – ghosts and ghouls, or not getting a good night’s sleep?

Locals who live close to Thorpe Park in Surrey were faced with the latter when spooky sounds were left playing all night long.

The park is running Halloween-themed ‘fright nights’ throughout October – but neighbours had a fright of their own when the sounds of ghostly wailing, spooky music, and screaming were left blasting overnight.

The soundtrack played from Sunday evening into Monday morning, stopping him, his partner and his dog from getting a good night’s sleep.

Jonathan Tennant, 56, lives close to the theme park and even went to the park’s gates in the early hours of Monday morning to capture proof of the disruption.

Jonathan, a phone engineer, had to put ear defenders on his pet pooch to keep him calm.

He explained: ‘It was loud – and bloody annoying.

‘The noise started at 10:30am on Sunday and should have finished at 7pm – but it went on and on.

‘You could hear it all through the house and it kept waking me and my housemate.

‘She’s a teacher and she didn’t sleep.

‘I thought there’d at least be security, maintenance staff or cleaners, but it was all shut up and empty.’

Another local added: ‘It’s ridiculous. The bass started at about 6pm and rattled on until 7am. I’ve barely slept a wink.’

The local residents’ association has called for a meeting with Thorpe Park to address the issue.

Thorpe Park has been contacted for comment.
