Brit tourist arrested for ‘touching bottom and nipples’ of air steward | UK News
Authorities have detained a man on suspicion of sexually assaulting an air steward.
Police were waiting to arrest the suspect, who has not been named but is believed to be in his early 40s, on Friday when his flight from Newcastle landed in Majorca.
The man is alleged to have got up from his seat and approached the attendant in an ‘affectionate’ way, proceeding to touch his bottom and nipples ‘in a lewd way’.
Other passengers helped to restrain the suspect until the flight, whose operator has also not been identified, arrived at its destination.
He is also reported to have behaved aggressively toward the arresting officers, who radioed in for reinforcements.
Footage of the detainee being taken from the airport show him wearing a pair of white shorts and T-shirt with matching white sandals and black socks.
He was taken to court in Palma today where a hearing was conducted behind closed doors.
Local press reported he initially told the judge he’d attempted to play a joke on the air steward, but later contradicted his own account in a manner described as ‘incoherent’ by the judge.
He was released on bail pending further investigation.
It’s not the only recent report on Brits behaving badly on flights to Spain’s island paradises.
Three weeks ago, shocking footage emerged on social media exposing a couple gallivanting in an easyJet plane bathroom at about 30,000 feet.
The pair were caught joining the ‘mile high club’ on a busy flight from Luton to Ibiza, much to the jeering and hysterics of fellow passengers.
The clip shows a flight attendant opening the door to the plane’s bathroom, revealing a man and woman semi-clothed and in the throws of passion inside.
The man in the bathroom then pulls the door closed as the crew member proceeds to place his head in his hands.
easyJet confirmed the flight was met by police officers but did not comment as to whether any arrests were made.
