Swansea scooter crash: Two girls, 11, ‘seriously injured’ after motorbike crash | UK News

Two 11-year-old girls are in hospital after they were hit by a motorbike while riding an e-scooter.

The two school children were left ‘seriously injured’ in the crash on Friday afternoon.

One of the girls was left with a broken femur, broken collarbone and has undergone surgery. The other girl’s injuries are unknown.

Two men, aged 18 and 24, were arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

They were knocked off their pink electric scooter on at around Friday, 3.50pm, at the junction of Waun Wen Road and Tegid Road in Mayhill, Swansea.

The motorbike believed to be involved in the incident is thought to be a Husqvarna, and the police are still searching for it.

Emergency services sent two emergency ambulances, a duties operations manager and two helicopters.

South Wales Police said there will be ‘great concern’ locally but asked people ‘not to speculate’

Chief Inspector of South Wales Police, Jonathan Fairhurst said: ‘Our thoughts are with the families of the two girls who are seriously injured in hospital.

‘We understand there will be a great deal of concern within the community and extensive inquiries are being carried out to establish the exact circumstances of the collision.

‘We respectfully ask people not to speculate at this time.’
