Girl, 10, has already skydived, bungee jumped and is world wakeboarding champion | UK News
A 10-year-old adrenaline junkie is determined to try every extreme sport and has already ticked off bungee jumping and skydiving.
Mary Jones became ‘obsessed’ with adventure after paragliding in Turkey when she was just four.
The little daredevil, from Basingstoke, Hampshire, now regularly goes caving, climbing and wakeboarding – a water sport she’s been crowned world champion in for two years running.
Her dream is to become a professional wakeboarder and she has set her sights on joining Team GB one day.
Mary said: ‘I remember feeling scared to go up paragliding.
‘But when I did it, it was the most fun thing in the world. When I went skydiving, I was really excited and a bit nervous.
‘But the excitement cancelled it all out. My dad did wakeboarding first and then I wanted to have a go. I just really enjoy it.’
Mary now hopes to start kitesurfing, but weighing about 31kg, she isn’t heavy enough to control the kite just yet.
Dad David, 37, said: ‘I think of all the things she’s done, wakeboarding is the most dangerous.
‘She’s out on the board alone and doing tricks in the air – she could land badly and hurt herself.
‘Luckily she’s had no serious injuries but it’s always a concern.’
Mum Ladda, 32, added: ‘My husband and daughter do the adventurous things. I am nervous when she does it and always keep my eyes on her.
‘But I look back at the videos and I see she is so happy. We are really, really proud of her.’
