UK braces for heavy rain as Met Office issues new weather warnings | UK News

The warnings come into force at 6pm this evening, with one covering Newcastle down to East Anglia, and another in place over Cornwall and Devon.

Forecasters are urging people to be aware the flooding of homes and businesses is possible.

The Met Office said: ‘Some fog during the morning, then many staying dry with sunny spells.

‘Showers at times, mainly in the southwest, with outbreaks of rain, sleet and hill snow affecting the north and east of Scotland. Feeling cold in Scotland. Milder elsewhere.

‘Some clear spells overnight where fog may develop. In the southwest, turning windy with further showers. Rain clearing Scotland, with further rain across eastern England. Feeling chilly for many.’

Showers will also continue tomorrow in the southwest, with some turning ‘heavy ad possibly thundery.’

The warning covering the north east and east of England will last until 12pm Sunday.

Meanwhile the warning covering Cornwall, Devon and Somerset will lift at 6am tomorrow.

Flooding is likely as a lot of the ground is waterlogged from recent rain and snow.
