Family pay tribute after dad and 17-month-old daughter killed in crash | UK News

The family of a dad and 17-month-old girl who were killed in a horror crash say they ‘cannot begin to explain’ the pain they feel.
David Beckett, 50, and his daughter died when the white Land Rover Discovery they were travelling in collided with a Mini Cooper and then a tree on Sunday.
Emergency services rushed to the incident in the village of Tarleton, Lancashire, shortly before 8.30am but they were both pronounced dead at the scene.
‘We cannot begin to explain how much pain and sadness we feel,’ the family said in a statement issued on social media.
‘But the kindness and love we have been surrounded by is helping us to get through.
‘We would sincerely like to thank you for the unwavering support you have provided to our family during this horrendous time.’
Floral tributes were laid at the scene and one read: ‘I’m deeply sorry for the loss of such a beautiful husband and daddy. You’re always in our thoughts, deeply missed forever.’
Sgt Matt Davidson, of Lancashire Constabulary’s serious collision investigation unit said: ‘These are terribly sad and tragic circumstances that have resulted in a man, and a young girl losing their lives. Our thoughts are very much with their loved ones at this awful time.’
Police also urged anyone who witnessed the smash or has dashcam or CCTV footage from Hesketh Lane and surrounding areas from Sunday morning to get in touch.
Sgt Davidson added: ‘We believe that there are people who may have witnessed the collision, or the white Land Rover Discovery in the moments beforehand, that we have not yet spoken to.
‘If that is you, or you know someone who may have witnessed this collision, please get in touch.’
The family added: ‘Thank you to everyone, you help us more than you know. Look after each other, look after your families.
‘Happiness can be found in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light. Love from, The Beckett family.’
