Woman dead in hotel room by maid with bloody iron next to her head | US News
A maid discovered a woman dead inside of a New York City hotel room with a bloody iron next to her head.
The maid found the 38-year-old woman unresponsive on the floor under a blanket at the hotel in the ritzy SoHo neighborhood around 10.30am on Thursday, police sources told the New York Post.
She had a wound on her head and investigators worked to determine if the iron next to her body was used as a weapon, the sources said.
Emergency responders pronounced the woman dead at SoHo 54 Hotel. Her cause of death is to be determined by the city medical examiner’s office.
The woman had stayed at the hotel on Watts Street for several days, the newspaper reported.
SoHo 54 Hotel did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Metro.co.uk on Thursday afternoon.
The woman displayed trauma on her face, a source told CBS New York. Police consider her death suspicious and are investigating it as a homicide.
No arrests were immediately made in the case.
The identity of the woman has not yet been released pending notification to her family.
A three-star hotel, SoHo 54 Hotel advertises rooms for about $110 per night on its website. It was formerly the Hampton Inn.
