Putin embarks on unhinged history lesson in Tucker Carlson interview | US News
Russian President Vladimir Putin gave a lengthy and bizarre history lesson in an interview with Fox News host Tucker Carlson.
The interview, recorded in Moscow and released on Thursday night, was Putin’s first sit-down with a western media since Russia invaded Ukraine last February.
At the beginning of the interview, Carlson asked why Russian started war on Ukraine. Putin spoke of Russia’s history going back to the 8th century for at least a half hour.
‘Honestly we thought this was a filibustering technique and found it annoying and interrupted him a few times,’ Carlson said in an introduction before the interview.
‘But we concluded in the end for what it’s worth that it was not a filibustering technique.’
Carlson said Putin ‘believes that Russia has a historic claim to parts of western Ukraine’ and that he appeared sincere in his explanation.
