Three people killed in hot-air balloon crash with power lines | World News
This is the moment an air balloon was engulfed in flames after crashing into high-voltage power lines.
Three people were killed in today’s incident near the village of Asureti, in eastern Georgia.
Footage shows the flames destroying the balloon in a matter of seconds while the basket burns.
The balloon could be seen getting into trouble, coming down and even touching the ground in a field.
The video shows it getting blown out of control and swaying from side to side for a few seconds.
It failed to gain height and was blown onto the power lines near the village, about 30 miles from the capital Tbilisi.
Part of the burning balloon plunged to the ground, while another part remained ablaze on a power line.
One of the victims of the collision has since been named as Imedi TV cameraman Misha Bidzinashvili.
Experienced pilot Revaz Uturgauri, president of the Georgian National Aeronautics Federation, was also on board the balloon, according to reports in Georgia.
Polish pilot Krzysztof Zapart was also killed in the balloon tragedy, said reports.
