Woman claims Uber Eats order ‘thrown on the floor’ amid strike action | UK News

A woman has claimed her rider was accosted and her order ‘thrown on the floor’ during Friday night’s walk-out by delivery drivers protesting for higher pay.
Hundreds of riders took part in rallies held in London and Brighton between 5pm and 10pm last night – one of the week’s busiest windows.
Participants included drivers with Deliveroo, Just Eat and Uber Eats, with some 540 reports of issues with delivery services during that period.
Those may well have included TikTok user wavyute, who says her order wound up on the side of the road after an altercation between her rider and a group of other protesting delivery drivers.
In a video uploaded to the social media platform, she said: ‘I’ve been craving seafood for so long, and I don’t wanna go to the place because none of my friends wanna go with me and I’m not gonna go eat a whole bag by myself in the restaurant.
‘So I’ve been trying to find a place that delivers, and I finally found one after two weeks, on the right night, that delivers.
‘I spend like £45 on my food and was waiting for like two hours because it was coming all the way from south east London to south west London.’
She then included a screenshot in her video of a message from her rider that appears to read: ‘Unfortunately I was detained by a group of riders and they took my order and threw it on the floor.
‘At this moment I’m contacting Uber so they can resolve the issue.’
The user went on: ‘They dashed my food on the floor! They dashed my seafood boil on the floor, they dashed snowcrab legs.
‘I don’t even care about anything else, it’s the crab that I wanted.
‘I’m pro-strike but… please! I just wanted my food!’
People in the comments section shared similar stories of their frustrations with deliveries.
One person wrote: ‘I had to wait 2 hours for my Chinese tonight when it finally arrived I asked and he said the same thing so I know your pain girl.’
Another person added: ‘I ordered McDonalds at 5.30 yesterday… it never came, found out there’s strikes, tell me why a driver knocked my door at 2.30AM with our food.’
