Man who ‘beheaded dad and posted on YouTube shot him moments before’ | US News
A man accused of decapitating his father and showing his head in a political rant on YouTube allegedly shot him dead moments before.
Justin Mohn, 32, purchased a gun the day prior to the murder and used it to shoot his dad and then cut off his head, said Bucks County District Attorney Jennifer Schorn on Friday.
He was armed with a 9 mm Sig Sauer handgun that had a round missing when he was arrested hours later and roughly 100 miles away at the Pennsylvania state National Guard facility, Schorn said.
The father, Michael Mohn, 68, was a ‘federal employee with the Army Corps of Engineers’, Schorn confirmed.
Michael’s autopsy showed he ‘suffered a gunshot wound to his head and then was subsequently dismembered and that the mechanism was the use (of) a knife to sever limbs and tendons and then ultimately a machete to sever his spinal column’, said Schorn.
Justin told officials that he went to the military installation ‘in an effort to mobilize the PA National Guard to raise arms against the federal government’, the district attorney said.
Schorn shared more details on the 14-minute and 34-second video that Justin posted around the incident in Levittown, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday, that has since been deleted.
‘The video appears to be taken in the same bedroom of the home where bloody gloves were found,’ said Schorn.
‘In the video, Justin Mohn is holding a human head detached from the body that is wrapped in plastic. Justin Mohn advised that the head is Mike Mohn’s head.’
Justin was not diagnosed with any mental health illness, according to Schorn.
‘It was evident to us that he was of clear mind in his purpose and what he was doing, aside from what his beliefs are,’ she said.
Justin worked as a contractor for Microsoft but was unemployed. He graduated from Neshaminy High School in Langhorne and Pennsylvania State University.
