‘Conman’ racks up £700 bill on ‘two-day bender’ before doing a runner | UK News

Phil Moss has an impressive list of more than 30 previous convictions, including seven for fraud.

Police are on the hunt for a convicted fraudster who ran up massive tabs at two pubs before going on the lamb.

Construction worker Phil Moss, 39, who already has a whopping 32 convictions including seven for fraud, racked up a combined bill of £695 during a two-day bender back in November 2018.

Booking into the Wyvill Arms at Constable Burton and the Countryman’s Inn in Hunton, both in North Yorkshire, the conman knocked back an astounding 16 pints, 15 vodkas, eight Jagermeisters, four glasses of zinfandel, two gins and one bottle of prosecco and rose apiece.

This on top of scoffing two steak dinners, a steak pie and one full mixed grill.

Having somehow evaded settling his eye-watering tab for no less than six years, Moss was due in court this week only to dip on that too, claiming he’s waiting for knee replacement surgery.

York magistrates went ahead and convicted him anyway, issuing a warrant for his arrest in order for him to be sentenced in person.

Landlord Nigel Stephens at the Wyvill Arms, Moss’s first stop on his boozy fraudulent bonanza, told The Sun: ‘He consumed a lot of drink. He was on his phone and kept telling staff his wife would be arriving to eat. After his first meal he shook my hand saying it was one of the best he’d ever had.

‘He made himself very comfortable in the bar. His wife never arrived and after dinner he went to his room.

‘Next morning he ordered two pints and I started to feel something was amiss. It was obvious he was about to get tanked up again.

Moss then made his way to the Countryman’s Inn where he booked in to continue boozing for a second night.
