Donald Trump slurs words while speaking about death penalty | US News
Trump seemed to talk in a partially incoherent way about the death penalty at a rally in Laconia, New Hampshire, on the even of the state’s presidential primary.
‘We have become a drug-infested, crime-ridden nation which is incapable of solving even the sollest, smallest problem,’ Trump said before his supporters on Monday night.
‘The simplest of problems, we can no longer solve. We can’t do anything, we are an institute in a powerful death penalty. We will put this on.’
A clip of that portion of Trump’s speech was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the account @BidenHQ which describes itself as ‘a project of Biden-Harris 2024’.
The post had 2.7million views by Tuesday afternoon, with many users claiming that Trump has experienced cognitive decline.
‘This is a just another clear example of how @realDonaldTrump’s cognitive abilities are declining very rapidly!’ wrote one user. ‘His father also started showing severe signs of dementia at even a younger age!’
Another user commented: ‘Trump can no longer formulate coherent sentences.’
Some users came to the former president’s defense by comparing him to President Joe Biden, who has had a lifelong stutter and many gaffes.
‘Trump may not make perfect sense at times, but does the Biden/Harris camp REALLY want to get into a battle over coherence and speeches?’ wrote a user. ‘Remember, we are talking about Joe Biden and Kamala Harris here.’
The Trump campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Metro.co.uk on Tuesday.
He spoke clearly during the rally while saying that the US is a nation where illegal drugs are easier to obtain that groceries to feed families.
‘We have to bring in the death penalty if we want to stop the infestation of drugs coming into our country,’ Trump said.
‘The only countries that don’t have a drug problem are those with a death penalty. A terrible thing to say. Each is dealer is responsible for the death, during their lives, of 500 people or more.’
Trump concluded that ‘we must institute the death penalty’ and that ‘it’s actually an act of kindness’.
The death penalty has been a highly discussed matter lately, particularly in light of plans to execute an Alabama death row inmate on Thursday using nitrogen gas for the first time ever in the country’s history. The method has never before been officially tested.
