Enormous fire breaks out at industrial estate in South Wales | UK News
A massive fire has broken out at an industrial estate in South Wales.
Ten fire crews have been called to tackle a blaze at an industrial estate at Bridgend Industrial Estate in Coychurch.
Thick plumes of smoke can be seen rising from the fire, while eyewitnesses have reported hearing ‘explosions’ and ‘large bangs’ at the scene of the fire.
South Wales Fire Service confirmed it received reports at 8.22pm of a large fire. It is not currently known which unit the fire is coming from.
Photos of the blaze show flames towering high above nearby houses, and can be seen from hilltop views miles away.
It is currently unclear what caused the fire and whether there are any injuries.
Courtney Lamont-Hughes, 18, told the BBC she spotted the fire while driving past the industrial estate.
‘We were driving down the dual carriageway on the opposite side, we pulled in and came round to the main side of the fire,’ she said.
‘It looks like a massive building, lots of offices, it’s taken out the whole building.
‘The police and fire service told us to stay back.’
In a statement on Twitter, the fire service said: ‘We are advising persons living in the area to keep doors & windows closed. We are advising people to stay away from the area at this time.’
