Rishi Sunak is facing a barrage of criticism after turning his back on a retired NHS worker who challenged him over the state of the health service.

An awkward moment for the prime minister was captured on film during a walkabout in Winchester, Hampshire, on Friday.

The woman confronted Mr Sunak over the NHS strikes, telling him he could stop them altogether.

‘You could make it all go back to how it used to be, where…if you had a problem, you could go to the hospital.’

Mr Sunak laughed before turning his back and trying to walk away, in what has been branded the ‘epitome of rudeness’.
