A man has been charged with the rape and manslaughter of a woman who was found dead in a park after a night out with her friends.

Natalie Shotter’s body was discovered in Southall Park in west London on July 17, 2021.

The 37-year-old NHS worker’s death was initially treated as unexpected by police while they continued to investigate the case.

Mohamed Iidow, 34, of no fixed address, was charged in connection with the incident on December 21 and appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court last Friday.

Mr Idlow, who had first been arrested back in August 2021, is now in custody and will appear at the Old Bailey today.

In 2022, Natalie’s mum Dr Cas Shotter-Weetman accused the Met Police of ‘letting down’ her daughter after two officers decided not to check on her before she was found dead.

She said Natalie, a mother-of-three, had been on a night out before ending up in the park with a male friend.
