Popular organic food company recalls crispbreads which contain moth larvae | UK News
A popular organic food manufacturer has recalled crispbreads and its biscuit selection because they contain moth larvae.
Daylesford Organic, which runs a number of cafes in London and a popular farm shop in the Cotswolds, say this makes the products unfit to consume.
The recall affects the company’s Rye, Spelt & Raisin Crispbreads and its 360g and 960g Savoury Biscuit Selections.
All batch codes and best before dates are affected, the company said.
A notice on the Food Standards Agency (FSA) website says: ‘These products have a presence of moth larvae, which makes them unsafe to eat.’
Packs of the crispbreads and biscuits can be returned to the store from where they were bought for a full refund.
Daylesford Organic was founded by Carole Bamford in 2002 at the Daylesford House estate in Gloucestershire.
She married JCB chairman Anthony Bamford in 1974, and became Baroness Bamford when he was elevated to the House of Lords in 2013.
The company operates organic cafes in Brompton Cross, Pimlico, Marylebone and Notting Hill.
Shortly before Christmas last month, Tesco recalled its ‘Finest’ Apple & Cranberry Stuffing Mix due to the possible presence of moths.
The chain declared the vegetarian product was ‘unfit for human consumption’ as a result and should be returned to supermarkets.
So far this year, the FSA has issued three recall notices: one for hypoallergenic baby formula powders made by Reckitt, another from Lidl Northern Ireland for turkey breast with an incorrect use-by date, and the third for Daylesford Organic.
