Moment shoplifting couple grab Irish Cream booze from Aldi during brazen spree | UK News

These liquor-looting lovers might be the closest thing to Bonnie and Clyde the shopkeepers of Wisbech have ever had to contend with.
Scott McSpadden and Lisa Momot have terrorised the pretty Cambridgeshire market town for years, racking up no less than 120 convictions, including 60 thefts, between them.
Shoplifting was their crime of choice, and until now, it seemed no item was safe – be it Aldi’s ‘knock-off Bailey’s’ liqueur, hair straighteners or fruity bath fizzers.
They were briefly jailed last year for nicking £52.50 worth of toiletries from Boots in under a minute, and handed court orders banning them from their favourite shopping centre or going into any shop together.
But, using teamwork, quick feet and sleight of hand, the pair once again tried to best the law.
CCTV footage from an Aldi supermarket away from the shopping centre shows McSpadden, 39, stride into the store before stuffing four bottles of own-brand Irish cream worth £19.96.
Meanwhile, Momot, 31, kept watch outside and even pre-emptively activated the automatic doors as McSpadden walked out, presumably shaving valuable milliseconds off their escape.
The ruse meant they technically didn’t break their court order – they just forgot to not break the law.
A member of staff spotted the theft and gave chase, but the couple made a successful escape.
The next day, they entered a B&M in a nearby retail park and made off with nine Elle hair straighteners, 10 Elle heated hairbrush sets and eight fruity bath fizzers worth a total of £197.71.
Again, a member of staff went to stop them but was no match for their speed.
McSpadden had previously managed to pilfer 15 packs of cheese from a branch of Aldi earlier last year.
The game was finally up when they were arrested on December 18 and jailed in time for Christmas.
McSpadden, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 28 weeks’ prison after admitting two counts of shoplifting and breaching a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO).
Momot, of Lynn Road, Wisbech, was jailed for 16 weeks after admitting theft from a shop and aiding theft from a shop.
Both were also issued new court orders adding the retail park to the list of places they’re banned from entering.
PC Sam Buswell, who investigated, said: ‘Both have repeatedly shown no regard for the law or the court orders imposed on them.’
