Japan Airlines plane on fire at Tokyo’s Haneda airport | Asia News
A plane has burst into flames at a busy airport after a possible collision between two aircraft.
Footage recorded at Tokyo’s Haneda Airport in Japan shows flames and thick black smoke pouring out of the Japan Airlines plane.
Multiple fire trucks are at the scene, local news outlet NHK reports, and the runway is also on fire.
The Japanese Coast Guard says there may have been a collision between the Japan Airlines plane and one of their aircraft, but this has not yet been confirmed.
The fire started at around 6pm local time on Tuesday, and it’s been reported that there are passengers on board the aircraft.
The plane, JAL 516, had taken off from Hokkaido for a domestic flight before it landed at Haneda.
Live video taken from a camera at the airport is streaming the fire service’s efforts to put out the flames.
Japanese news site Asahi reports that the JAL plane was unable to land properly due to its tyres, causing it to land on its hull.
There were 367 passengers on board, including eight children, but it’s been reported that they were all evacuated from the plane.
