Keziah Macharia: Mum, 41, charged with murdering her four-year-old son | UK News
A mum has been charged with murdering her four-year-old son at their home in east London.
Keziah Macharia, 41, is accused of killing Kobi Dooley-Macharia, who was found with knife injuries at an address in Hackney on Wednesday night.
The youngster was rushed to hospital but died of his injuries a short while later.
Macharia was charged with murder and will appear in custody at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
A special post-mortem examination will take place on Thursday, December 28.
Police were called to an address in Montague Road on Wednesday night following concerns about the welfare of a child.
Inside, officers found Kobi who had suffered knife injuries.
A neighbour said: ‘We often saw the boy playing on his scooter. He was happy and energetic.’
Scotland Yard said on Thursday detectives were not looking for anyone else in connection with the incident and that the boy’s next of kin had been informed.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway said: ‘This is an extremely distressing incident which will understandably cause shock and disbelief amongst the local community and those who attended the scene.
‘We are working with our partners, including Hackney Council and the school community, to ensure support is there for people who need it.’
