Car crashes into side of a house and is still lodged two days later | UK News
A car is still wedged into the front wall of a bungalow two days after a driver somehow ploughed a car straight through it.
Astonishing pictures from the scene on a residential street in Salisbury, Wiltshire, show a navy blue Vauxhall halfway inside the property, lodged into the brickwork.
The wall of the house appears to be holding the car afloat above the ground a good couple of feet below.
It seems the car is rather stuck, so much so that a glass window damaged in the smash has been boarded up around the outside edge of the vehicle.
The driver was also trapped inside the car after the bizarre collision and firefighters had to cut them free on Wednesday morning.
Crews used hydraulic equipment to carry out the rescue on Shelley Drive at around 10.40am.
One neighbour, Jeremy Tooze, believes it was a visitor who missed the brake pedal and instead hit the throttle while parking, sending the car careering head first into the property.
‘It’s still there,’ said Debbie Mallet, who also lives nearby.

‘I didn’t see it crashing into the bungalow but I saw it afterwards.
‘I doubt that they can move it without some structural work.
‘It’s gone through the front window but it’s also taken out quite a bit of brickwork.’
A Dorset and Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: ‘We received a call at 10.39am from our Police colleagues about a road traffic collision on Shelley Drive, Salisbury.
‘Crews from Salisbury and Ludgershall attended along with a crew from Fordingbridge and technical rescue team from Redbridge (H&IOW FRS).
‘The incident involved a single vehicle and building – firefighters used hydraulic cutting equipment to release the driver who was then left in the care of our ambulance colleagues.’
The South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust confirmed that nobody was taken to hospital following the crash.
Earlier this year, a Mercedes veered off a dual carriageway and smashed into a garage, while another driver also caused £30,000 of damage to someone’s living room when they crashed into a house.
