Boy, 4, shot dead in front of his parents during road rage chase | US News
A young boy was shot to death in front of his parents by suspects in another vehicle that pursued them.
Gor Adamyan was ‘a vibrant four-year-old boy whose life was tragically cut short during a road rage incident’, states a GoFundMe page for his funeral expenses.
A suspect driver cut off the victim and his family and followed them through several streets on Friday evening, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The victim’s vehicle slowed down, at which point the suspect driver pulled up by the passenger side and started shooting.
‘During the incident, a 4-year-old boy, who was seated in the backseat, was struck by gunfire in the upper torso,’ stated the sheriff’s department.
‘His father and mother, who were in the vehicle, immediately transported him to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.’
The GoFundMe page shares similar details from the shooting on the 44600 block of Sierra Highway in Lancaster, California.
‘In a horrifying turn of events, the suspect driver positioned alongside the family’s vehicle and opened fire, wounding Gor severely,’ states the page.
‘Gor Adamyan succumbed to his injuries on Friday night, just ten days before Christmas, leaving his family utterly devastated.’
No one else was injured.
Deputies apprehended the suspect vehicle in the immediate area and arrested a 29-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman.
Byron Burkhart on Tuesday was charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder, one count of shooting at an occupied vehicle and five counts of possession of a firearm by a felon on top of a murder charge. His bail was initially set at $2million, but prosecutors asked for it to be increased to $5million.
His girlfriend, Alexandria Gentile, was arrested in connection with the shooting and was not immediately charged. She was released from custody on Tuesday, court records showed.
Burkhart’s arraignment has been set for January 22.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to contact the sheriff’s department’s homicide bureau.
The GoFundMe page for Gor had raised more than $71,000 as of Wednesday evening.
‘Together,’ it states, ‘Let us stand united in support of the Adamyan family and remember Gor’s bright spirit.’
