Section of M1 closed in both directions after lorry bursts into flames | UK News
Part of the M1 in South Yorkshire has been closed in both directions by National Highways due to a huge lorry fire.
The motorway is shut to vehicles between Junction 31 at Aston and Junction 32 at the M18.
Images from the scene show an articulated lorry at the side of the road, completed gutted by flames.
South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service is in attendance.
It is currently unclear if the driver of the lorry is safe and whether other road users were in the area when the vehicle burst into flames.
A tweet from South Yorkshire Police said: ‘Please avoid the area while emergency services carry out their work and plan your journey accordingly.’
