Moment bull runs loose on train tracks and snarls traffic | US News
A bull on the loose on train tracks turned the commute on New Jersey Transit into a wild scene.
The brown long-horned bull could be seen trotting along the tracks that were on a lower level than the pedestrian platform in videos shared online.
Onlookers recorded the animal with their phones and security guards watched as it ran along one way of the tracks at Newark Penn Station around 10.30am on Thursday.
‘Rail service is subject to up to 45 minute delays between Newark Penn and PSNY, due to Police activity near Newark Penn Station,’ wrote NJ Transit on X (formerly Twitter).
The transit system added, ‘Police activity:’ and shared a picture of the bull on the tracks.
A station announcer could be heard in a video saying, ‘Due to an obstruction on the tracks all trains are subject to delays.’
Travelers were shocked at the bizarre incident.
‘How does this even happen?? LOL,’ wrote on social media user. ‘Only in Jersey that’s for sure.’
Another wrote: ‘How many travelers muttered “this is bulls**t” and were literally spot on…’
Neptune resident Jason Monticelli said he looked out the window and saw the bull ‘trotting down the track there’.
‘I thought maybe it was a Red Bulls PR stunt or something like that, considering the stadium was right there,’ he told WABC. ‘But yeah, he was just trotting along. We were just trying to figure out what where it came from.’
Cops responded to the intersection of Frelinghuysen Avenue and Victoria Street, along with several other agencies. They located the bull and contained it in a fence, the TV station reported.
The bull was tranquilized and will be picked up and taken care of by a local animal sanctuary, according to Newark officials.
No one was injured. It was not immediately known from where or how the bull broke loose.
It happened about a week after a pig led police officers on quarter of a mile chase around Tanyard Road and Brenner Drive in New Jersey.
