Missing man believed to have been killed by hit-and-run driver | UK News

A man who was reported missing on Sunday is believed to died after he was hit by a car which did not stop, police have said.
Thomas Hunter, 27, vanished after leaving a nightclub in Ashby-de-la-Zouch, Leicestershire, at around 2am yesterday.
A man was found injured in a roadside hedge by Derbyshire Police at 8.30am today, and an ambulance crew pronounced him dead when they arrived shortly afterwards.
This morning, Leicestershire Police said the man was believed to be Mr Hunter, and although formal identification is yet to take place, his family was informed.
Now, the force has said it believes he was killed as the result of a collision with a vehicle that then drove off.
Investigators think that the man was walking along Burton Road in Ashby towards the hamlet of Boundary in Derbyshire, which sits on the county border with Leicestershire.
He may have been hit by the vehicle between 2.30am and 3.30am.
Leicestershire Police said its investigation into the collision is continuing.
A statement from the force said: ‘Officers would like to speak to anyone who may have been driving along Burton Road during the early hours of Sunday morning and may have witnessed the incident.
‘Also, if anyone has dashcam equipment installed on their vehicles we would ask that they check the footage and get in touch if they captured anything that may assist them.’
