Trump looks at his court sketch and says ‘I gotta lose some weight’ | US News
Former President Donald Trump checked out his court sketch while attending his civil fraud trial and remarked that he needs to ‘lose some weight’.
Trump after a morning break in the trial on Thursday stopped to talk to two courtroom sketch artists, Isabelle Brourman and Jane Rosenberg, sitting behind New York Attorney General Letitia James’ legal team.
‘That’s me?’ joked Trump after seeing Brourman’s work, according to NBC News.
‘Wow, amazing. I think I have to lose some weight.’
Trump made the remark about his weight while gesturing to his neck, the artists working for news organizations told The Independent, and seemed to approve by saying, ‘Nice.’
The 6-foot-3 ex-president’s weight was listed as 215 pounds in the booking sheet for his arrest in the Georgia election interference case in August. That was down from his weight of 243 in his 2019 examination while president.
A few weeks ago, Trump, 77, touted his weight loss by sharing his health report on President Joe Biden’s 81st birthday.
Trump’s personal physician Dr Bruce Aronwald wrote that he has ‘reduced his weight through an improved diet and continued daily activity, while maintaining a rigorous schedule’.
Aronwald added that Trump’s recent laboratory examination ‘remains well within normal limits and was even more favorable than prior testing in some of the most significant parameters, most likely secondary to weight reduction’.
The report did not include latest Trump’s weight.
Trump appeared to be in a good mood speaking with the artists, after a panel of state Appellate Division judged paused Judge Arthur Engoron’s order pre-trial to dissolve some of his businesses due to ‘persistent fraud’.
‘A very good ruling,’ Trump said. ‘We appreciate it. I think the country appreciates it.’
One of Trump’s lawyers, Christopher Kise, stated that the ruling ‘helps pave the way for a much needed, and deliberative, review of the trial court’s many errors’.
Trump returned to the New York Supreme Court for the first time in a month after testifying in James’ $250million lawsuit alleging he, his two eldest sons and Trump organization executives inflated the value of their assets to gain more favorable loans. He listened as an accounting expert for his defense team argued that the case did not have merit.
Earlier, before entering the courtroom, Trump again blasted the trial as a ‘witch hunt’ and ‘very corrupt’.
‘We did nothing wrong. There were no victims,’ Trump told reporters. ‘The bank loves us. The bank testified they love us. We did absolutely nothing wrong.’
Trump is not the only one in his family who has bantered with courtroom artists. In early November, his eldest son Donald Trump Jr joked to Rosenberg to ‘make me look sexy’.
The former president has said he will return to the witness stand on Monday as the trial nears its end.
