Two children killed after mass stabbing and home set on fire in New York | US News

Four people have been killed and three others were injured after a stabbing in New York.
Police were called to the Far Rockaway neighbourhood in Queens in the early hours of Sunday morning and found the stabbing victims in a home which had been set on fire.
Two adults and two children were killed in the attack.
The male suspect then stabbed two police officers, the BBC reports, and was then shot by one of the injured officers. The suspect was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
In a press briefing at Jamaica Hospital, police confirmed that they received a 911 call at 5.10am local time, when a ‘young female caller stated that her cousin is killing her family members’.
Two officers went to the scene and saw a man walking out of the house with luggage. When they tried to talk to him, he stabbed one officer in the neck and chest, and the other in the head.
More officers were called to the scene and found an injured 11-year-old girl at the front of the house. She was rushed to hospital but died of her injuries.
Emergency services also found the bodies of a 12-year-old boy, a 44-year-old woman, and a man in his 30s.
A 61-year-old woman was taken to hospital with multiple stab wounds.
NYPD has named the suspect as 39-year-old Courtney Gordon, who was visiting his family members in Queens at the time of the attack.
They added the person who made the 911 call was being interviewed at the police station.
