Harry and Meghan snubbed from friend’s wedding over Royal rift | UK News
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex seem to have been left off the guest list for one of Prince Harry’s best friends.
Next summer, Harry’s lifelong friend Hugh Grosvenor, 32, the Duke of Westminster, is set to wed Olivia Henson, 30 – but the invitations for Harry and Meghan seem to be lost in the mail.
The King and Queen and the Prince and Princess of Wales are on the invitation list for what will be the society wedding of the year, it has been reported.
Prince William may stand as the best man for the Duke, despite him being Prince Harry’s son, Prince Archie’s, godfather.
Reports say the Duke, Charles’ grandson, had wanted to invite Harry and Meghan but decided against it after recent drama caused tension in the royal family.
A friend of William and Harry’s told The Times: ‘It’s incredibly sad it has come to this. Hugh is one of the very few close friends of William and Harry’s who has maintained strong bonds and a line of communication with both.
‘He wishes they could put their heads together and patch things up, but realises it’s unlikely to happen before the wedding. He wanted to avoid anything overshadowing the day, especially for Olivia, and doesn’t want any awkwardness.’
It comes as last week, tensions flared yet again in the royal family after longtime royal correspondent Omid Scobie released his second book, ‘Endgame’.
Buckingham Palace is reportedly ‘considering all options’ after two royals accused of ‘unconscious racial bias’ were named in the Netherlands version of the book.
Meghan Markle claimed in 2021 that two members of the Royal Family expressed ‘concern’ about which colour Prince Archie’s skin would be before he was born.
Prince Harry and Meghan have never publicly revealed the identities of who allegedly made the remarks – but two names were included in Omid Scobie’s book titled Endgame.
Shortly after the book was released in the Netherlands this week, it was quickly pulled from the shelves and taken off sale.
