Two people have been airlifted to hospital with serious injuries after a dog attack.

It happened at an address in the Rhoshirwaun area, near Pwllheli, in Wales, just before 11.30am on Friday.

Another 37 dogs and a number of cats have been seized from the address.

Two other people at the address suffered minor injuries.

The dog has now been destroyed but it is unknown what breed it was and a vet will now examine it.

The RSPCA is working alongside North Wales Police in relation to the incident.

The force confirmed officers are maintaining a presence in the area and inquiries are continuing.

But police reassured the public that there was ‘no further risk to them’.

Chief Superintendent Sian Beck said: ‘We have launched a joint investigation with the RSPCA and are appealing for anyone who may have information about the dogs located at the property to contact us.

‘We would like to thank members of the local community for their patience and support whilst we were in attendance at this incident.’
