A landlord walked into a New York City police precinct and confessed to stabbing and killing three people, police said.

The deadly crime was discovered in St Albans, Queens on Tuesday morning after a surprise confession from a local landlord.

The landlord, identified as a 54-year-old man, walked into the 113th Precinct around 7,00am on Tuesday morning. He told officers he was ‘having issues with his tenants,’ said NYPD Assistant Chief Kevin Williams.

Police did not initially identify the suspect, but the New York Times identified him as David Daniel, citing NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.

Williams said the man walked into the precinct ‘as calm as can be’ before admitting to the gruesome crime.

‘The officer enquired further, and the male stated that he “did something bad,”‘ Williams said.

Officers from the precinct immediately checked on the man’s property in St Albans, Queens, where they found a man and a woman unconscious and unresponsive in the building’s basement.

The officers found another victim, another woman, unconscious in an upstairs bedroom.

EMS responded to the home moments later, and all three victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

The two victims found in the basement were reportedly Daniel’s tenants, while the victim found upstairs was his girlfriend.

The incident remains under investigation, and charges against the landlord are pending, Assistant Chief Williams said.

Police currently believe the dispute may have started over unpaid rent.

Earlier this year, a landlord in Brooklyn reportedly set his building on fire after his tenants refused to pay rent.

The building residential building in Cypress Hills was home to a family of eight, including a mother, father, and six young children.

The landlord, identified as 66-year-old Rafiqul Islam, was charged with eight counts of attempted murder, arson, and assault.
