A British grandad who vanished two days into his Jamaica holiday made a ‘heartbreaking’ last call to his family before vanishing into thick woodlands.

Robert Dyer, 60, was walking in thick woodland in St Elizabeth on Sunday when he called his brother Henry after realising he was lost.

Henry desperately tried to direct him but he was unable to find his way.

Robert’s son Lewis, who lives in London, said his dad then became more disoriented as dehydration set in, The Sun reports.

He told The Sun: ‘The next day we were all able to contact him.

‘He was lying in a ditch somewhere with no water and couldn’t speak properly and had become immobile.’

The family have not been able to get through since he made his last call with his wife Anne.

Robert flew out to Jamaica to spend four weeks with his brother after he gave up following a cancer battle.

Hundreds are now searching for Robert in area, but the family are becoming increasingly worried.

‘As each hour passes, we are losing hope. We don’t know if he’s still alive. It’s so surreal,’ Lewis said.

‘Every hour that passes is lowering our chances of actually finding him.’

They are now trying to get drones with thermal imaging to help locate Robert.

St Elizabeth Police Division said: ‘There is in fact a search and rescue operation ongoing at this time, which is in response to a British national who got lost in the hilly terrain of the Ballards Valley area.

‘He was unable to locate his way back to the home where he is staying.’
