A note left by suspected Maine mass shooter suggested he would not be found alive.

Authorities continued the massive manhunt for Robert Card, the man suspected of killing 18 people and injuring another 13 in a mass shooting in Lewiston, Maine on Wednesday night.

The frantic search lead to a brief standoff at Card’s home in Bowdoin, where investigators found his cell phone and other personal belongings abandoned.

Law enforcement sources revealed that they also discovered a note that could be taken as the suspected shooter’s ‘last will.’

The note was addressed to Card’s son, and instructed him on the location of where his belongings could be found, another source told CNN.

It reportedly did not give a reason for the shooting.

Card concluded the note by saying that he would be dead by the time it was read.

The content of the note suggested to investigators Card planned to take his own life, and may explain why part of the search for the fugitive gunman has focused on the nearby Androscoggin River.

Card’s car was found at a boat ramp on the river in the nearby town of Lisbon, and a boat previously registered to him is currently missing.

Investigators also found a gun at the location, but could not confirm if it was one of the weapons used in the attack.

On Friday, investigators were seen searching the waterway by boat, aircraft, and drone. Maine Public Safety Commissioner Michael Sauschuck also confirmed the riverbed would be searched by divers.

At a press conference on Friday morning, the commissioner would not say investigators were certain he was in the water, and the manhunt on land would continue as well.

‘We’re going to be all over the place,’ Sauschuck said.

Card is wanted for at least eight counts of murder. More counts are expected to be added as the victims continue to be identified.
