Three people were killed after tanker truck carrying jet fuel collided with two cars on a Pennsylvania highway.

The fiery crash took place on Interstate-476 on Saturday morning.

A car had pulled over into the righthand lane due to a flat tire. A second car, whose driver turned on their hazard lights, pulled over to help.

An oncoming tanker truck was unable to brake in time and struck both vehicles.

The tanker truck was carrying jet fuel, which ignited and started an intense blaze across the roadway.

Video from the scene of the crash shows debris strewn across the highway. The tanker and a large stretch of highway barriers caught on fire, billowing black fumes into the atmosphere.

‘What happened here?’ wonders the driver who recorded the footage.

Moments later, he pulls up the site of the crash, where the truck and at least one car can be seen engulfed in flames.

The truck driver and the driver of the second vehicle were both pronounced dead at the scene. A third person, a passenger in the second vehicle, was pronounced dead two days later.

The identities of the victims have not yet been confirmed due to the intensity of the fire.

The driver of the vehicle with the flat tire initially survived the crash and was hospitalized. They remain hospitalized as of Monday.

I-476 was shut down for hours on Saturday as firefighters fought the blaze and emergency workers cleared out the debris.

Several homes near the highway were briefly evacuated due to the fire and fumes.

Southbound lanes on I-476 were reopened on Saturday night, while northbound lanes where the accident took place remained closed until Sunday.
