A teenager has been killed and another is fighting for his life in hospital after a car carrying six people crashed into a wall in Halifax.

The 19-year-old died at the scene in Calderdale when the white Seat Ibiza he was travelling in collided with the wall shortly after 11.15pm on Friday.

An 18-year-old man was rushed to hospital in a critical condition which is thought to be life threatening, police said.

Four other passengers in the vehicle were injured, but none are believed to be life threatening.

All were taken to hospital for medical treatment.

It is unconfirmed whether Storm Babet had any impact on the crash, although an amber weather warning for rain was in place at the time.

A police scene and road closure are in place and officers from the Major Collision Enquiry Team are investigating the incident.

Officers are appealing for anyone who was driving in the area or lives in the vicinity of Halifax Road and Brown Lane to check their dashcam or CCTV for any relevant footage that could assist with the investigation.

MCET officers are also keen to hear from anyone who may have seen the white Seat Ibiza on Halifax Road or being driven in the area prior to the collision.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Major Collision Enquiry Team via 101LiveChat function on the website or by calling 101 quoting reference 13230584662.
