Brussels shooting: Brits told to avoid travel after terror attack | World News
The UK government has issued advice telling people to avoid all non-essential travel to Brussels.
Last night two football fans were shot dead in Belgium, and the gunman was this morning shot by police.
The capital was put on its highest terror alert after the terror attack last night meaning that a ‘threat is extremely serious’.
Officers finally apprehended the man in a café in the Schaerbeek neighbourhood earlier this morning.
He was rushed to hospital in an ambulance where he was in intensive care for at least an hour before it was confirmed that he died.
The FCDO said: ‘The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) provides advice about risks of travel to help British nationals make informed decisions.
‘A shooting took place on Boulevard d’Ypres in central Brussels on 16/10/2023. The authorities have confirmed two fatalities
‘Avoid the area and follow the advice of local authorities.
‘Brussels-Capital Region is now at threat level 4 of 4: avoid all non-essential travel. This is a developing situation – follow the advice of local authorities.’
