Baltimore/Washington Airport shut down as police investigate ‘bomb threat’ | US News
Traffic into Baltimore/Washington Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI) was shut down on Wednesday as police investigated vehicular bomb threat, according to a report.
Roadways in and out of the international airport in Maryland were closed for an intense police investigation around 3.00pm.
‘Vehicular traffic approaching the airport is currently being held,’ BWI said. ‘Those in the terminal are advised to remain in place at this time.’
Sources told CNN that a person had threatened to detonate a bomb inside a parked car near the airport’s curb.
Metro.co.uk has reached out to the Maryland Transportation Authority Police for further comment on the incident.
Around 4.20pm, the airport said law enforcement ‘cleared’ the vehicle in question, and said the roads would slowly be reopened.
An investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
