Moment FedEx plane crash lands and skids across Tennessee runway | US News

A FedEx cargo made a fiery crash landing in Tennessee after an apparent landing gear failure.
First responders rushed to Chattanooga Airport after receiving reports that a plane was making a landing approach after its landing gear had failed.
The plane was identified as a Boeing 757 jet operated by FedEx.
The call came in around 11.00pm on Wednesday, and emergency personnel rushed to the airport to get ready for the expected crash landing.
‘The aircraft circled before making its final descent with three people on board,’ the Chattanooga Fire Department said. ‘The plane crash landed, skidding off the end of the runway. It came to a rest between the runway and Jubilee Drive in the safety area.
The plane came to a stop in a grassy are between the runway and a nearby road. Fire officials confirmed that there was no fire onboard the aircraft, only smoke from the engines and sparks from the body.
‘Great work by the pilot and airport personnel, as well as all responding agencies for their coordinated efforts,’ the Chattanooga Fire Department said.
None of the crew members were injured during the terrifying landing.
The Federal Aviation Authority (FAA) confirmed the jet was headed for Memphis International Airport in the same state.
The FAA is currently investigating the cause of the crash.
Earlier this year, a FedEx plane was involved in another serious close-call when one of their delivery jets nearly collided with a passenger plane.
The FedEx flight was attempting to land at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport on the same runway as a Southwest flight bound for Cancun, Mexico.
The Southwest flight delayed taking off on the runway, only starting to move when the delivery jet was directly overhead.
The FedEx plane narrowly missed the passenger plane, coming within 75 feet of the jet before quickly ascending back up to 3,000 feet above ground.
