Elianne Andam: Boy, 17, charged with murder of schoolgirl in Croydon | UK News

A 17-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of Elianne Andam, the schoolgirl stabbed to death in Croydon, south London.
The teenager is due in court on Friday over the death of the 15-year-old, who was wounded in the neck while travelling to school on Wednesday morning.
Police were on the scene in Wellesley Road within two minutes but Elianne, described by heartbroken relatives as the ‘light of their lives’, was declared dead there at 9.20am.
Her family visited the area on Thursday evening as crowds gathered outside the police cordon and prayers were said.
In a statement read by a church leader on their behalf as they wept and consoled each other, they said: ‘We as a family are struggling to comprehend this painful tragedy that has happened to our beautiful daughter and beloved sister Elianne.
‘Our hearts are broken. And we are overwhelmed by sorrow and grief.’
The teen suspect, who is also charged with possessing a knife, will appear at youth court sitting at Croydon Magistrates’ Court.
