Legendary house music singer belts out dance hit on Ryanair flight | UK News
A house music legend serenaded a Ryanair flight with an acapella of a dancefloor smash on her way to a recording session in Italy.
American singer Kathy Brown performed a full-throttle version of ‘Turn Me Out’, complete with dance moves, on the trip out to Ancona.
Wearing a baseball cap and an ‘Ibiza’ T-shirt, she shimmied into the aisle while other passengers captured the impromptu performance on their mobiles before applauding as she slid back into her seat.
The in-flight entertainer, 63, recorded the original soulful vocal on the 1994 single with dance music act Praxis, which was remixed as Turn Me Out (Turn to Sugar) for a thumping re-release two years later.
The reboot topped the US Billboard Dance Club Songs chart and remains a house music anthem.
The former gospel singer had been flying from London to the Adriatic Coast on September 12 for a vocal session to record a new single with DJ-producers Micky More and Andy Tee, owners of the dance brand Groove Music Culture.
Brown’s fans from over the years gave their approval to the unexpected in-flight entertainment on her Instagram channel.
One wrote: ‘I’ll never forget seeing you at Pacha back in ’99…still get goosebumps thinking about it’.
Another exclaimed: ‘Wow!!! I would have been standing on my seat singing along!! What a voice!!!’
Brown’s performance follows Lewis Capaldi serenading a British Airways flight from London to Los Angeles in March.
He sung and played a guitar in the aisle for the rendition of ‘Wish You The Best’, before joking: ‘Sorry for disturbing your flight, if you don’t know my name is Ed Sheeran.’
