Two teenagers arrested after man stabbed to death in Torquay | UK News

Two men aged 19 and 18 have been arrested after a man was stabbed to death on a street in Torquay.

Police and air ambulance were called to the scene on the Devon town’s Ellacombe Church Road at around 3.30pm today, following reports of an assault from members of the public.

The victim, a local man aged in his thirties, was later pronounced dead. Police said his next of kin had been informed.

The pair of teenagers, both from Torquay, were arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in police custody.

Detective Superintendent Ben Beckerleg of Devon and Cornwall Police said: ‘Our thoughts are very much with the family and friends of the man who sadly died.

‘Our investigation is currently underway, and we are carrying out a number of lines of enquiry to establish what has taken place.’

He added: ‘I appreciate this incident will cause much concern amongst the community.

‘We are doing all that we can to establish what happened today and residents can expect to see officers in and around the area for the next few days.

‘Ellacombe Church Road has been cordoned off and a scene guard will be in place throughout the day which will go in to tomorrow.

‘We are appealing for anyone who was in the area of Ellacombe Church Road from around 3pm on Sunday 17 September to contact us.’
